Church of God

"The Place To Be!"

Pastor Keith E. Jenkins

I was born into a preacher's family, the fourth "P.K." of five.  Growing up in the preacher's house was very instrumental in my young life.  I accepted Jesus Christ at the age of six in the church that my father pastored.

My occupations have included auto mechanic, truck driver, heavy equipment operator, and an over-the-road truck driver.  I have always been involved in church work.  I have taught Sunday School and discipleship training classes.  I have been a worship leader.  I have worked on many constructions projects.  I have been in choir and have served in several leadership positions on church boards.  I always have tried to seek the Lord's will for my life.

In 1994, during a Sunday morning service, the Lord place a call upon my life to preach the Gospel.  After sharing my call with my pastor, he encouraged me to enroll in Covington Theological Seminary.  I enrolled and now have my Bachelor degree in Ministry.  I continue to take ministry related courses at Lincoln Christian Seminary.
In October of 2001 we were called to do Music Ministry at Boiling Springs Church of God.  In February of 2002, I preached a trial sermon for the congregation and became the Pastor on June 1, 2002.  After only pastoring two months, I ended up having emergency brain surgery.  The congregation at BSC was very supportive and understanding as we went through this very trying time.  There has been a lot of therapy and recovery time that has happened over the last few years.  It has been very difficult at times, but the prayers and support of our church family have been outstanding.
My sermonizing, for the most part, is patterned after my mentor and former pastor.  I use an alliteration style in order to make it easier for people to retain what they have heard. I sat under this style for ten years and find that I think in this matter automatically when reading and studying God's word.
It is my desire that I do all that God would have me do to help build His kingdom and minister to his people at BSC.  I believe the future is bright and that God has much in store for our church.  My goal for the coming year would be to see our ministry strengthened in terms of discipleship of the existing congregation, the further expansion of our church and to see many new lives brought into the kingdom.
Psalms 121: 1-2, "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."
